Machinist
The Machinist is primarily responsible for management and execution of both traditional and CNC machining projects in a safe and efficient manner, as well as support of other Model Shop activities, including back-up of the Model Shop Manager and ongoing assistance with Assembly projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prioritize released Shop Orders for scheduling of Machine related tasks and assembly needs
- Compile and review drawings, documentation, and specifications required to complete Shop Orders
- Source components and parts from inventory and shop stock, with notification to Manager for missing items
- Assist in technical assembly of customer orders, as needed
- Technical assembly of customer orders
- Shaft cutting
- Motor-Gear Combinations

- Wire Cutting & Stripping
- Other Design Assemblies
- Inspect & document all orders using measuring devices and test equipment
- Packing of orders per factory standards and/or customer order requirements
- Data entry (via IFS) of order completion to designate stock as finished for shipment
- Maintain and repair machining tools, as needed
- Complete machining of all orders per customer specifications in consideration of all safety and procedural concerns (e.g. reduction of shaft diameters, thru shaft holing, mounting plates, and custom shaft features) using both traditional and CNC machining as required
- Serve as back-up for Model Shop Manager, as needed

Required Education And Experiences
- Completion of Machine Shop Program, via high school certification or 2-year college/technical school program
- 3-5 years of experience as Machine Shop Tool Maker - Traditional machining and CNC experience
- Ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings
- Computer literate, functional with Microsoft products
- Effective communications, verbal and written
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing or warehouse areas.
