The Quality Engineer at maxon has a broad range of responsibility and autonomy in driving high quality output of electric motors, gearboxes, and electromechanical subsystems expected from maxon. This role requires a strong basis in engineering theory and electromechanics to support the diverse range of customer specific product. Under the Head of Quality, the QE works cross-functionally with Engineering and Production to find and solve problems, improve processes, and coordinate inspection of product. This role will be instrumental in helping the MPM Quality and Inspection teams grow in equipment and capabilities. The Quality Engineer will also be involved in supplier qualification, internal and external audits, and corrective actions.

Quality Engineer


  • Read and review engineering documents for clarity, measurability, and manufacturability
  • Understand basic quality tools such as SPC, Root Cause analysis, CAPA
  • Perform measurement validations for internal and customer related projects
  • Review validation plans and statistical analysis for completeness and accuracy
  • Assist in improvements to processes from data-driven decisions
  • Communicate new challenges encountered and suggest changes to improve inspection and manufacturing processes
  • Track supplier quality through incoming inspection results and defects found during assemblies
  • Execute vendor qualification actions including audits and PPAP to ensure vendor quality



  • Statistical analysis and Quality tools
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T
  • Auditing to ISO or VDA standards
  • Knowledge and expertise with measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators.
  • Problem solving using data analysis




  • 3-5 years in a Quality Engineering role preferred
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred
  • Use of vision systems, profilometer, CMM
  • Understanding of statistical analyses and tests
  • Understanding of measurement methodologies and tools
  • Programming experience preferred
  • Associates degree minimum preferred in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Must be able to read, write, speak English
  • Ability to read, write, speak German a plus
  • Experience with revision-controlled documents and ISO/QMS processes
  • Microsoft Office functionality


Travel is up to 25% will be local, national, and international with overnight travel required.
